Automatic Bund Dewatering System uses Bund-Sep® Oil Water Separator
OVERVIEW of AUTOMATIC BUND DEWATERING SYSTEM WITH CLASS 1 DISCHARGE.
The Automatic Bund Dewatering System with Class 1 discharge has been designed to provide a low cost drainage solution to small Substations and other sites where outdoor Oil Containment Bunds are present.
A costly underground drainage system with class 1 separator is no longer required to comply with Environment Agency guidelines and Government Regulations.
The following two modules form the Automatic Bund Dewatering System with Class 1 discharge:
1 The standard Automatic Bund Dewatering System type SCS001
2 The BUND-SEP® type SCS002
Full interaction of the two modules is as follows:
1 The standard Automatic Bund Dewatering System type SCS001 comprises the pump/probe assembly located in the sump and the control panel mounted on a frame usually adjacent to the sump. The probe assembly returns signals to the control panel, which in turn provides an electrical supply to operate the pump, discharging water from the sump. This system maintains the volumetric integrity of the bund by discharging rainwater but not separated oil from the sump. It also provides the user with alarms and indications to advise the prevailing conditions such as Power failure, Oil level high, Water level high etc.
It is IMPORTANT to note that the discharge from any type of sump pump using similar technology CANNOT be guaranteed Class 1 (<5mg/l – Environment Agency Guidelines PPG2, PPG3)
2 The BUND-SEP® is a small above ground prefabricated separator which accepts the discharge from a standard Automatic Bund Dewatering System and provides the following by way of interaction with the pump control circuit.
A Final discharge containing less than 5mg of hydrocarbon content per litre of water
B Oil storage capacity of 29 litres
C Automatic shut-off device when the oil storage capacity is exceeded
The above three points comply with the relevant sections of EN 858-1
The BUND-SEP® will be located within the bund, normally close to the sump, precise positioning will be determined by risk assessment but anywhere within the bund is possible. The final discharge from the BUND-SEP® will be to fall over the standard height bund wall to surface water run off. The BUND-SEP® may be raised to accommodate higher bund walls with the addition of the adapter pedestal and further risk assessment
